Privacy Policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
Stoa does not collect any data. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising, and your journal is never sent to us.
Your journal
Everything you write in Stoa is stored on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. The app has no server and makes no network requests, so we cannot see, read or recover your entries.
Stoa saves backups of your journal so you don't lose it:
- Automatic backups are saved in Files › On My iPhone › Stoa › Backups. They are removed if you delete the app.
- A backup folder, if you choose one in Settings, receives a copy of each backup. If that folder is in a cloud service such as iCloud Drive, the copy is stored by that service under its own privacy policy.
- Exported backups go wherever you send them through the share sheet.
Backups are plain JSON files that contain your entries and the quotes they were written about. You can open, move or delete them at any time.
Favorites and settings
Your favorite quotes, reminder time and appearance setting are stored on your iPhone only.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, the notification is scheduled on your iPhone. It is not sent from a server.
Widgets
The Stoa widgets show the day's quote and affirmation. They read only from the quote library built into the app and never see your journal.
Data we collect
None. Stoa does not collect personal information, usage data, diagnostics, identifiers or location, and it contains no third-party code that does.
This website
stoajournal.app uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
Children
Stoa collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
